Known for stunning dresses and quality fashion, Lillian Rakowski of Lillian’s fashions shares her wonderful story of 30 years trading at Dandenong Market.

A love of colour and all pretty things, Lillian has made a success of ladies fashion at Dandenong Market. Her passion for making women of all ages feel confident, beautiful, happy and good about themselves makes Lillian’s Fashions a popular spot on any day at the market.

Emigrating from Poland with her husband Andrew in 1980, Australia and Dandenong have become Lillian and her families much loved home. Enjoying the wonderful diversity and culture that Dandenong Market and its visitors bring, Lillian has many fond memories of starting out at the market thirty years ago.

Lillian and her husband both opened up clothing stalls at Dandenong Market in 1990, Lillian remembers having an outside table in all weather conditions and warmly enjoys the modernization of the market now with a roof and shade! Lillian also giggles remembering being in the same aisle as the fruit and vegetables, nuts and all sorts of trades, she says it has always been like one big market family, meeting people from all around the world, especially enjoying all the exotic foods, one of her sons favourite pastimes when coming to help her on market days.

Sadly Lillian’s husband Andrew passed away 10 years ago and keen to keep busy and happy, Lillian pursued her love of ladies fashion and clothing. Lillian gets great happiness out of coming to work at the market especially finding the perfect outfit for her customers.

Ladies come from all over Melbourne to buy special occasion dresses for weddings, formals, the races but also for work, every day comfort and style. Lillian is able to offer her customers a personalized service knowing what specific styles and fabrics will suit them best and better still, all at a great price.
