Dandenong Market COVID-19 update

Dandenong Market remains open for our community as we are classified as an essential service by both the Victorian and Australian Governments.

As of 17 February 2021, most Market traders have reopened and are following normal trading hours. They cannot wait to welcome you back.

The health and safety of our customers remain our top priority and we have taken all precautions to ensure you are well looked after on your next visit to the Market.

The Market’s playground remains closed.

Dandenong Market is classified as an indoor venue by law. Masks are required while shopping in all sections at Dandenong Market (unless you have a lawful excuse such as a medical condition that prevents you). Children under the age of 12 are not required to wear a mask. All Market staff, traders and their employees are required to wear a mask or face covering. We must continue to do all we can to minimise the risk of infection and protect our families, friends and other customers.

To help everyone comply with the COVID-19 physical distancing laws:

• Foot traffic will be monitored hourly.
• Crosses have been placed throughout the Market on the floor so customers understand what the physical distancing measurements look like, depending on where they are shopping in the Market.
• Increased security patrols to encourage customers to comply.

To remind customers about physical distancing, we have 10 minute overhead announcements reminding customers to maintain 1.5-metre distance in our Fruit & Vegetable Hall and Market Square and for 4 square metres for all other areas of the Market. Similar messages can also be seen on all digital screens. We also have more than 50 posters around the Market asking customers to respect the practices in place.

Some traders prefer contactless payment (pay wave) over cash and other payment options.

Many of our traders use ticketing systems to allow customers to maintain a safe distance while ensuring they are served in order.

Please respect the personal space of others and practice good hygiene by washing hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds.

Or use one of our many sanitising stations to clean your hands before and after handling produce and/or eating.
