Known for stunning dresses and quality fashion, Lilian Rakowski of Lilian’s fashions shares her wonderful story of 30 years of trading at Dandenong Market.

With a love of colour and all things pretty, Lillian has made a success of ladies’ fashion at Dandenong Market. Her passion for making women of all ages feel confident and beautiful makes Lillian’s Fashions a popular spot on any day at the Market.

Emigrating from Poland with her husband Andrew in 1980, Australia and Dandenong have become Lillian’s much-loved home. Enjoying the wonderful diversity and culture that Dandenong Market and its visitors bring, Lillian has many fond memories of starting out at the Market thirty years ago.

Lillian and her husband both opened up clothing stalls at Dandenong Market in 1990, Lillian remembers having an outside table in all weather conditions and warmly enjoys the modernization of the Market now with a roof and shade! Lillian giggles while reminiscing on being in the same aisle as the fruit and vegetables and nuts. She says the Market has always been one big family, connecting people from all around the world and sharing culture.

Sadly Lillian’s husband Andrew passed away more than 10 years ago. Keen to keep busy and happy, Lillian pursued her love of ladies fashion and clothing. Lillian gets great happiness out of coming to work at the Market especially finding the perfect outfit for her customers.

Ladies come from all over Melbourne to buy dresses for weddings and formals but also for work and everyday comfort. Lillian is able to offer her customers a personalised service knowing what specific styles and fabrics will suit them best and better still, all at a great price.
