We are reveling in life after Freedom Day in Victoria. Under new government restrictions, we can finally welcome back each and everyone of our loyal Market customers beyond our 15km radius. We have missed you all dearly.
The Market, which is open every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 7am and Sundays from 9am, remains open for essential services. This includes fresh produce, meat and fish, delis and specialty grocery stores. All food stalls are open for take away only.
Restaurants such as Kabul Kitchen and Market Tavern can also open for seated service.
In a Market first, Dandenong’s much loved florists and nurseries will set up trade outdoors on the Terrace. The burst of spring colour will be worth a visit to the Market!
Our 155 year-old market has remained open to support the local community since March 16 2020: more than 580 days ago. During this time, the Market’s 200+ small businesses have suffered through the ups and downs of lockdown. Ongoing closure of shops and stalls, customer visitation restrictions and border closures across Australia affected the Market.
Restrictions keeping 130 of the Market’s non-food stalls closed are yet to be eased. Dandenong Market’s Bazaar, key cutters, pet shops and much loved auction have been temporarily closed since the beginning of Victoria’s sixth lockdown.
According to the Victorian Government’s Roadmap, non-essential retail will reopen when 80% of the State’s population over 16 is fully vaccinated; a milestone we will reach on or before Friday 5 November 2021.
