For more than eight years, Chef Tim Hollands has led visitors through the vibrant flavours and hidden stories of Dandenong Market. A professional chef, presenter, and passionate advocate for multicultural food experiences, Tim brings a rare blend of global insight, local knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm to every tour he hosts.

Born and raised in Tokyo, Tim’s early years in Japan instilled in him a deep respect for ingredients, seasonality, and the cultural traditions behind every dish. This foundation continues to guide his work today, shaping his belief that food is a universal language — one that brings people together, tells stories, and honours heritage.

Throughout his career, Tim has championed the value of shared food experiences. Additionally, he has travelled extensively across Asia and the Middle East, helping promote Australian produce in key export markets and strengthening links between growers and consumers.

Culture and Community

Closer to home, Tim has partnered with his local Indigenous community to deliver youth cooking programs and family cooking classes. Through these initiatives, he uses food as a bridge — building confidence, passing on knowledge, and nurturing stronger community connections.

Tim is also the founder of McCulloch Avenue Kitchen in Victoria, where he creates bespoke catering experiences, intimate events, and hands‑on food education sessions.
