Dandenong Market is preparing to revitalise the Bazaar, one of the Market’s most diverse areas and one with significant opportunity for the future.
This exciting project is about investing in the Bazaar now, so it can continue to be the preferred place to shop, attract new customers, support small businesses and remain an important part of Dandenong Market into the future.
The new Bazaar space is being designed to improve the customer experience, create easier-to-shop aisles, support better accessibility, and provide more varied retail options and services.

Feedback has played an important role in shaping the project. Both customers and traders were surveyed to hear their thoughts and suggestions around what is working in the Bazaar? What is missing? What can be improved? And what is loved? This feedback helped to shape the vision of the revitalisation to ensure that we were meeting the needs of both our customers and traders while holding onto the heritage and character of the Bazaar.
Communication with our traders has been ongoing throughout the project to ensure they are supported and kept up-to-date. This page will continue to be updated as the project progresses.
Timing
Construction is expected to begin 21 September 2026, (with a 5-6 week disruption period) subject to final project timelines and approvals. The Bazaar is currently still open for business until construction starts.
We will continue to share updates as the project progresses, including further information about what customers can expect when visiting the Market to plan ahead.

As part of the Bazaar Revitalisation, the Bazaar will need to be temporarily closed.
If you have a favourite Bazaar trader, now is a great time to stock up ahead of time and ask how you can stay in touch during the construction period.
Some traders may sell through online stores, social media, pop-up locations at Dandenong Market, or other retail spaces.
We encourage you to find out how you can stay updated and continue to shop with them throughout the revitalisation period.
