Known for quality sports and casual streetwear shoes, Pacha Noori of Melbourne Sports Shoes shares his wonderful story of 24 years trading at Dandenong Market.
Growing up in Afghanistan, Pacha worked for his father in the family shoe shop, this is where his love of business and working with customers and quality shoes started.
Moving to Australia in 1985, Pacha started working with his uncle at Victoria Market at his shoe stall. Pacha soon realised his excellent rapport with customers and a good eye for business could be the start he needed to venture out on his own at a market.
In 1991 Pacha opened up his Melbourne Sports Shoe store, he shares his fond memory of his first day at Dandenong Market, “Waiting in a huge queue that wasn’t moving with a van full of shoes to load into my new stall, I was really conscious of the time and being late to open. I started to panic and get really upset, but there was no need as soon as I set foot in my new Dandenong Market spot I had the best day of trading ever!”
Passion for people and community has made Pacha of Melbourne Sports Shoes the success he is today. Working as a volunteer social worker, Pasha’s compassion and warm, friendly nature is a major draw card to his business.
