Mandalas are a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hindu and Buddhist cultures dating back to the 4th century. Today, they are used throughout the world to help promote peace and healing.
The ancient belief is that by entering the mandala and proceeding towards its centre, you are guided through the cosmic process of transforming the universe from one of suffering into one of joy and happiness.
Colouring mandalas can promote relaxation and calm the nervous system and is a great mindfulness activity to help you through isolation.
While we live in such strange circumstances, bulit up frustrations and overwhelming feelings of stress can affect our relationships with our loved ones and ourselves.
Very few of us are living the same lives as we were. Some of us have a lot more time on our hands now; others have started to work from home or are juggling multiple responsibilities under the one roof. It can be easy to feel like the days and weeks are merging into one with no clear boundaries between work and play.
Dandenong Market invites you to set aside some time through the week to practise a mindfulness activity or meditation. Whether that be through practising gratitude, going for a long walk or exploring the world of colourful mandalas – it’s important to be looking out for yourself during these times.
