The Cooks' Tour: Japanese Edition
Join chef Tim Hollands in this brand new edition of the Cooks’ Tour at Dandenong Market – with a 3.5 hour immersive Japanese cooking experience.
Born in Japan and with over 25 years of culinary experience, Chef Tim brings his unique style and expertise to this tour.
Learn fundamentals like dashi broth (the cornerstone of Japanese cooking), how to prepare delicate agedashi tofu, and basic sushi techniques. Visit select traders for unique Japanese ingredients, before enjoying a live cooking demonstration. Conclude the experience by enjoying the traditional Japanese meals you’ve created together.
Tickets to the Cooks’ Tour are $120 (inclusive of GST) and run with a maximum of 10 people.
All Cooks’ Tour participants receive free all-day parking included with their ticket plus a Japanese cuisine goodie bag to take home (details below).

Parking: A parking ticket will be included in the tour price. Please arrive at the Management Office 15-20 minutes early to obtain your parking ticket. You must park on the lowest level of the multi-story car park. See more frequently asked questions.
Menu:
Dashi
Umami-rich Japanese stock made from kombu and katsuobushi (bonito flakes).
Miso Soup
A comforting broth made with miso paste and dashi served with tofu, and green onion.
Teriyaki
A glossy, sweet-savoury glaze made from soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Commonly used on grilled meats or fish.
Basic Sushi
Vinegared rice combined with fresh fish or vegetables. Served as hand-formed nigiri or rolled into maki.
Agedashi Tofu
Silken tofu, lightly coated and fried, served in a warm soy-dashi broth. Topped with grated daikon, spring onions, or bonito flakes.
Cancellation Policy: Bookings may be modified or refunded up to 7 days prior to the tour. After this period, changes and refunds are not possible. If you need to cancel, we kindly request you email your notice to [email protected] so we may have an opportunity to refill the space. Please note that only one date change is permitted per booking.
