Taylors Orchards has been trading at Dandenong Market since 2003. The team has also supplied organic produce to the Market since the mid-1980s.
Owner Gary has developed a loyal customer base who love to shop organically and locally. 80% of Gary’s product is sourced within 60km of the Market which is a selling point for many customers.
Taylors Orchards’ main lines are apples and pears which grow on the family orchard in Tyabb. They also sell products from other Peninsula orchards such as Kelowna Farms and Atlanta Orchards.
Taylors Orchards also have a popular line of certified, organically grown produce which they supply to the market for Tuesday and Friday trading. Mornington Peninsula Organics provides some of the most popular lines including broccoli and cherry tomatoes.
Gary and his business play a big role in the Greater Dandenong community too. In November 2019, the City of Greater Dandenong awarded Gary and Abdul from S&G Fresh the Sustainable Industry Award for their regular work with OzHarvest.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue service that aims to reduce the amount of waste in the hospitality industry. The organisation collects excess food from markets and other retailers, delivering more than 180 tonnes of food to over 1300 charities across the country.
Gary is a regular supplier to OzHarvest and is happy to put in the extra effort to ensure that there is fresh, organic produce available for those who may not be able to access it.
In a six month period, Abdul and Gary provided 11,451kgs of produce. This is the equivalent of 34,353 meals that OzHarvest has delivered to those in need.
Customers can find organic produce at Taylor’s Orchards in the Fruit and Vegetable Hall at stalls R7B and T3A-B.
