Maria has been part of the Dandenong Market community for almost 10 years with her business, Bella Maria, offering a beautiful and affordable range of Pakistani and Indian fashion for women, men and kids.

Maria’s business started out of her love for fashion. She studied fashion design at RMIT. Soon after she completed her studies she travelled back to India and felt inspired by the beautiful fashions and traditions embodied within their clothing. It was here she decided to start a business in Australia and curated collections of beautiful and affordable Pakistani and Indian fashion for women, men, and kids. Dandenong is a multicultural hub, and it was the perfect place to celebrate traditions through clothing and bring her business to life. She also saw so few businesses existed for fashionable collections for the Pakistani, Indian and Afghan communities.

Annually Maria heads overseas to Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan and Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Gujarat in India to source the latest trends and most fashionable collections for her customers. Bella Maria releases key collections for Summer, Winter, Diwali, and Eid – the most popular time of year for her business.

From the latest Pakistani and Indian fashion like shalwar kameez, Anarkali suits, sarees and lehengas to more modern Indo-Western styles, the designs at Bella Maria are fashion-forward, innovative and leave customers wanting more. 

When we asked Maria what warms her heart the most about her customers she said: “Without doubt it’s their loyalty. My customers are kind, genuine and have supported Bella Maria for many years. During COVID my customers still supported us purchasing beautiful new things to wear at home – and I loved being part of those “remote” celebrations. They inspire me to keep creating collections they will love – balancing the latest trends in traditional dressing with fashion-forward fun.
