Two of Dandenong Market’s fruit and vegetable traders win City of Greater Dandenong’s Sustainable Industry Award
Two of Dandenong Market’s popular fruit and vegetable traders have won the City of Greater Dandenong Sustainable Industry Award for their regular work with OzHarvest.
Abdul Ghani and Gary Taylor, owners of S&G Fresh and Taylors Orchards, were presented with the Sustainable Industry Award on Monday 18 November.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue service that aims to reduce the amount of waste in the hospitality industry. The organisation collects excess food from commercial kitchens, supermarkets as well as other retailers and delivers more than 180 tonnes of food to over 1300 charities across the country.
Abdul and Gary are both regular suppliers to OzHarvest and are happy to put in the extra effort to ensure that there is fresh produce available for those in need. The traders place high importance on supporting the cause to help give back to their local community.
Over the past six months, Abdul and Gary have provided 11,451kgs of produce. This is the equivalent of 34,353 meals that OzHarvest has delivered to those in need.
We congratulate Abdul, Gary and their teams for all the hard work they consistently put in to supporting sustainability in our community.
