Thank you for joining us for NAIDOC Week 2023. We hope to see you again in 2024 to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

WOMINJEKA! Come celebrate NAIDOC Week 2023 with us on Bunurong land.

Recognizing the history and achievement of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander peoples, this event contributes to the movement for our elders and original owners of the land both past and present.

NAIDOC Week 2023 will be celebrated right here in Dandenong Market! From 11am-2pm, join us for a free and inclusive performance of Indigenous dance, music and art. The Market, with more than 150 nationalities working in harmony under the one roof, is looking forward to celebrating the culture of our First Nations.

A traditional Welcome to Country will be performed from 11am, incorporating a smoking ceremony and followed by Indigenous dance at 11:30am by Indigenous Outreach Project. Music and art performances and family-friendly workshops will be performed during the day, including a feather painting children’s workshop with Emmy Webbers from Wurruck Yambo.

Dandenong Market’s vision for reconciliation is for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage to be protected, celebrated and shared. This heritage will be lauded with the utmost pride and respect in recognition as the first culture of this land – in a society where Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider Australian community work collaboratively to strive for respect, opportunity and equality for our elders and for all.

Come celebrate with us!
