A great way to keep little fingers entertained in the holidays. Not only will you save money on costly outings you will have a yummy lunch, dinner or snack sorted and guaranteed they will eat! Here are our top recipes for having family fun in the kitchen.

 

1. Party pies and sausage rolls

Perfect pastry is the key to good pies and sausage rolls, all you need to do is fill them with your choice of filling.

1 ¼ cups plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
8 tablespoons unsalted butter

2. Easy cup cakes

Simple and easy recipe for kids to mix and lick and decorate with their own choice of topping.

2 cups S.R. Flour
¾ cup caster sugar
¾ cup milk
125 grams melted butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla

3. Coconut Snowballs

Shopping list:

1 ¾ cups unsweetened shredded coconut
100ml melted butter
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1 cup pitted dates
1 cup dried apricots
1 ½ cups blitzed toasted pecan nuts
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4. Dinosaur nuggets

Shopping list:

1kg chicken breast mince
1 large sweet potato
1 carrot finely diced
1 bunch asparagus
1 onion finely diced
1 capsicum finely diced
Zest of 2 lemons & 2 limes
4 whole eggs
1 bunch chopped fresh thyme
300grams breadcrumbs
1 whole egg
200ml milk

5. Home-made pizza

600 grams plain flour
2 teaspoon dried yeast
Pinch of caster sugar
1 teaspoon salt

7. Burger beauties

Home-made burgers are great way to get the whole family in the kitchen and cooking a healthy well balanced meal together.

400gms lamb or beef mince
100gms finely sliced mushrooms
1 onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely chopped
1 stick celery, finely chopped
1 red capsicum, roasted
2 large mushrooms, oven roasted
1 zucchini, sliced and grilled
1 eggplant, sliced and grilled
1 tablespoon chopped Italian parsley
¼ cup bread crumbs (fresh if possible)
2 eggs
1 tablespoon light salt reduced soy sauce
1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
Canola spray
Rocket or spinach leaves
