Jam roll


This classic cooking favourite will light up your holidays with your kids.

Shopping list:

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 100 grams caster sugar
  • 100 grams plain flour
  • 25 grams corn flour
  • 6 egg whites
  • 25 grams caster sugar
  • 150 grams strawberry jam
  • 2 large spoons butter cream

  • Step 1

    In a mixing bowl with a whisk attachment, whip up the egg yolks and 100 grams caster sugar until they are pale and white. Fold through the flours and set aside.

  • Step 2

    In another mixing bowl with a whisk attachment whip up the egg whites first until they are medium peak then slowly add the caster sugar and whip for a further 5 minutes or until glossy

  • Step 3

    Fold the two together then grease a sheet of grease proof paper then smear over a thin layer over then bake at 1`70C for around 6-7 minutes or until lightly browned.

  • Step 4

    Once cooked roll into a tea towel dusted in caster sugar until cooled, then unroll and smear on a thin layer of jam and butter cream then re-roll and, let sit and serve and eat within a couple of hours.
