Getting to the Market


Dandenong Market is located in the heart of Dandenong, in Melbourne's South East. Visiting Dandenong Market is easy with a number of highways, train lines and buses located near the market.

 

Driving

Dandenong Market is located in the heart of Dandenong, 40 minutes from Melbourne CBD.

From the CBD, take Citylink/M1 (includes tolls), and then exit by turning right at Stud Road. Continue along Stud Road for 3 kilometres, then turn right onto King Street.

From the West, take the Westgate Freeway, which joins Citylink/M1 (includes tolls). Exit by turning right at Stud Road. Continue along Stud Road for 3 kilometres, then turn right onto King Street.

From South East, take Citylink/M1(includes tolls), and then exit by turning right at Stud Road. Continue along Stud Road for 3 kilometres, then turn right onto King Street. Alternatively, take the National Highway Alt 1 (Dandenong Road / Princes Freeway), turning left onto Clow Street.

From the Eastern suburbs, take Eastlink/M3 (includes tolls). High St Rd/State Route 24 in Wantirna South. Take the High St Rd exit from Eastlink/M3. Get on M1 in Wheelers Hill. Exit by turning right at Stud Road. Continue along Stud Road for 3 kilometres, then turn right onto King Street.

Form the Mornington Peninsula, take Peninsula Link and exit by turning right at Greens Road. Take the Dandenong bypass to Dandenong Frankston Road, turning left. Continue until Clow Street, turning right.

From Gippsland, take the Gippsland Highway which joins  Princes Hwy. Follow Princes Hwy and M1 to Heatherton Rd/State Route 14 in Doveton. Take exit 18 from M1. Turn left onto Stud Rd for three kilomtres, then take a right onto King Street.

 

Trains

The closest station is Dandenong Railway Station, which is a 15 minute walk from Dandenong Market.

Both the Cranbourne Line and the Pakenham Line stop at Dandenong train station.

Regional train lines that also stop at Dandenong include Bairnsdale (Melbourne via Sale) and Traralgon (Melbourne via Morwell, Moe & Pakenham).

IMPORTANT:

The Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project will be completing works during the following days and times:

  • 0130am Saturday 1st April – 0430am Thursday 6th April. No trains running from Dandenong to Pakenham and Cranbourne.
  • 0130am Saturday 8th April – 0430am Monday 10th April. No trains running from Caulfield to Dandenong.

During this time, Metro Trains will be replacing trains with buses matching the Metro Trains timetable (where possible).

The following buses stop on Clow Street, directly opposite Dandenong Market (one minute walk):
862: Dandenong - Chadstone via North Dandenong, Oakleigh
843: Dandenong Station - Endeavour Hills via Endeavour Hills SC
845: Dandenong - Mossgiel Park via John Fawkner Drive
849: Dandenong - Mossgiel Park via Gleneagles Drive
861: Dandenong - Endeavour Hills via Thomas Mitchell Drive

The following buses stop on MaCrae Street, opposite Dandenong Plaza (5 minute walk):
892: Casey Central SC - Dandenong Station via Hampton Park SC
893: Cranbourne Park SC - Dandenong Station
828: Hampton - Berwick Station via Southland SC, Dandenong

Parking

Tuesday, Friday and Saturday fees start from as little as $0.50 cents for 1 hour or $9 for all day parking payable in cash or credit card.  Minimum credit card payment is from $1.00 or $1.40.

With 1000 parking spaces, including ample undercover spots, there is plenty of cheap parking at Dandenong Market. The car park can be accessed from Clow Street or King Street and is open:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 4am-6pm
Wednesday: Closed
Thursday: Closed
Friday: 4am-6pm
Saturday: 4am-6pm
Sunday: 7am-6pm

Accessible parking is located in all car parks off King Street and Clow Street, including the multi-level car park where lift and ramp access is available. The 12 accessible parking spaces are free providing the correct sticker is displayed.
